Happy New Year!!! I hope that everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.
Anyone who is reading this, will see that I managed to keep my weight not only under control over the holidays, I actually lost a few pounds. That was even with not going to the gym at all the week of Christmas. I gotta say that I was shocked. I figured that I had probably gained a few pounds but was hoping for it to be the same as the last weigh in.
I really can't say enough that it is about balance. I see the commercials on tv and the internet, and each one promises results. I myself have fallen for their lines too. I will tell you what I have learned by trial and error. They are all lies! No magic pill is going to make you suddenly loose those pounds you want gone. It isn't about taking a pill, it is about eating right, and getting exercise.
I realize that many may not be able to buy the equipment to exercise at home, or pay for the gym membership. Believe me I have been there, where you are more worried about how to pay the rent and put food on the table not getting a gym membership or buying that elliptical. I realized that there are things that you can do at home with out all of that.
Go for a walk with a friend. Start a dog walking service in your neighborhood where you will earn some extra money and get in your exercise. If that isn't your cup of tea, so to speak, then there are other options. If you have stairs in your home, go up and down the stairs for 30 minutes, do jumping jacks, run on the spot. There are also tons of exercise videos available for a small cost. Any of these things could be what works for you. It is about being consistent.
I was always told that anytime that you start a new exercise program, it takes 2 weeks for you to see results. Trust me, when you start to see results, it will help to keep you motivated to keep going.
Everyone is always hyping that it is about cardio, but really it isn't just about cardio. It is also about strengthening and toning your muscles. The more toned and strengthened they are, the more efficient your body will be at burning off the calories. Again it comes down to a balance. Cardio can be done everyday, but with strength training you should give your muscles at least 24 hours to recover. If you go again too soon, you will just be tearing down the new muscle tissue that you just worked at building. You will get better results in the long run if you give yourself the time you need to recover.
I have updated my results from the last few weeks. I had my weekly weigh in and lost another 2 pounds and 8 centimeters total. I will put up the exact numbers once I get them from my trainer.
In closing for this week, remember, don't give up. You just need to find what will work for you.
Feel to leave comments or share some of your own ideas and what you may have found that works for you.
